This is my dreamtime picture, which is personally one of my favorite things that I created this year. To make it, I used a variety of colors of oil pastels. One new skill I applied to the project was the stylistic "dreamtime" drawing that incorporates alternate figures of realities and a multitude of shapes and abstract colors. Some art elements that are used are color, value, line, and texture. I would describe the overall mood of the drawing as electric and exciting, yet slightly mysterious due to its abstract nature. It is meant to depict the way I feel when I listen to music.
This is my block print that I made using a lenoleum block, carving tools, and red and black ink. It is a depiction of my friend Isaac's face, and to make it I used the skills I learned in the block carving lesson that we did with the mini blocks. Some art elements incorporated in the print are color, value, and texture. I would describe the feel of the print as bright and ecstatic, created by the symmetrical balance between the the red and black hues.
This is a pen and ink drawing of Capital Steez, a rapper that is the cousin of one of my good friends. I had never used this type of pen and ink before, so that was an entirely new skill, and I also used everything I learned from the face drawing unit. Some elements involved are shape, value, line, space, and texture. The mood of the drawing could be described as nostalgic, and it almost looks like he's standing in a sky full of stars.
This is my self portrait, sketched with pencil and painting with regular and neon water colors. One new skill that I used was my newly learned ability to recognize shadows and recreate them in my painting to make it look more realistic. Some elements that I used were line, value, color, and shape. The mood of the painting could be described as electric, mainly due to the neon green eyes and the bright purple background.
This is my Macro Still Life painting, and it is a still life painting of a photograph that I took outside of the school. One new skill that I used in this painting was my use of different shades of one color to show shadow and depth. Some art elements incorporated into the painting are value, shape, and color. The overall mood of the painting is warm and colorful, making it look like summer rather than approaching the cold weather of the winter.
This is my Leaf Painting, and it is a watercolor painting of an arrangement of leaves that I put together in class. One new skill that I used in the painting was mixing colors to make a shade that would make the leaves look as realistic as possible. Some art elements that I used were value, shape, line, and color. The overall mood of the painting is warm and light, perhaps representing the last of the warm weeks of fall, leading into the cold weather of the winter season.
This assignment was called a One Point Hall Drawing, and was created using 4B and 6B pencils on drawing paper with no color and a ruler. One new skill that I used in this drawing was the use of a vanishing point to create dimension. Another skill I used was overlapping to create the illusion that there were other hallways going in different directions. One art element I used is value. I used all of these elements and skills to create a very realistic drawing of the hallway outside the art room. I would say that the mood of the drawing is linear and straightforward.
This is a pencil drawing of an imaginary room. In order to create this, I had to learn how to use a vanishing point to create a sense of dimension. The elements used are shape and value, and they come together to create a room from a different perspective. The straight lines create a sharp image, almost like a sort of blueprint. The mood of the drawing could be described as quiet and somewhat empty. The drawing also offers some insight into me as a person, because I'm generally pretty soft spoken.
This drawing can be described as lines of different value branching out from a vanishing point to create dimension. The vanishing point is off center, which generally makes a drawing more intriguing. The variation in value within the lines allows the images to appear three-dimensional. The vanishing point is along the horizon line, which creates perspective. Shapes within the drawing include triangles, squares and parallelograms.
